Where's the Angle?

Montessori idea--observe kids trying to construct knowledge, see where difficulties are, and then develop better support (better materials and activities) for that construction.

Studies have shown that when they are first learning about angles, children typically confound angle size with the length of the sides in the representation of the angle, or the area between those sides (Prescott, Mitchelmore, & White, 2002).
